Dear Friend,

Obstetric fistula is a heartbreaking injury of childbearing. It occurs when a woman, sometimes as young as 13, endures obstructed labor without appropriate medical intervention. The consequences are life shattering. In nearly all cases the baby dies and the woman is left with chronic incontinence. But there is hope! Fistula can be treated with an effective surgical repair, and in most cases women who undergo surgery make a full physical recovery and most are able to have another child.

I am moved to help these women, and I’d like for you to join me. I’m raising money on behalf of One By One, an organization committed to helping end fistula in the developing world.

I am hosting a One By One giving circle to raise funds and create awareness of this devastating condition. The cost of treatment, care and rehabilitation for one woman is $420. If you and me and eight others join together and contribute $42 apiece, we can raise enough to cover the cost for one woman’s care.
