A WOMAN OF IMPORTANCE

FLORENCE CHEMOMENYU

Florence Chemomenyu is a skilled farmer, a local leader and a truly inspiring woman. She is 44 years old and a mother of nine. She got her fistula with her 7th born son. Thankfully he survived. However, Florence lived a dfficult life, suffering from fistula for nine years, unable to work or connect with people in her community during those years. After Florence was treated in 2009, she started and still leads a local fistula surivor support group. Ms. Chemomeyu was proud to be chosen to become of One by One’s first 30 Regional Representatives in 2010. For the past 18 months Florence has been putting her leadership skills to use transforming her communinity through education and activitsm.
