Citizen Action for Girls and Women
Raise your voice TODAY and improve the lives of women and girls!
Join One By One in support of two congressional bills to prevent child marriage and treat obstetric fistula in the developing world.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
-
Write, fax and call your Members of Congress and encourage them to endorse the Fistula Treatment (H.R. 2114) and Child Marriage bills (H.R. 3175/S. 1998). (To see full text of the legislation, enter the bill numbers into the "Search Bill Text" field on the Thomas website.)
Some of the above documents are in Adobe PDF format. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free here.
Your voice will make the biggest difference in the next three weeks (Thursday, Feb 21 - Friday, March 14) when other people around the country will be participating in similar actions on behalf of girls and women worldwide.
- Throw a house party to raise awareness of child marriage and screen the Child Brides: Stolen Lives DVD. Everything you need to throw a party, including the DVD, can be ordered by emailing Dan Martin at dmartin@icrw.org.
- Send a Letter to the Editor [PDF] to your hometown newspaper that explains the issue and draws attention to the legislation.
- Forward this information to friends and family in other states or districts who may want to write their legislators, too!
Remember, YOU are a powerful voice that can effect change. Just a 5-minute phone call to your member of Congress can make a difference.
